Has this board always been dominated by questions about secondary schools?

... and the Education board?

I'm sure I remember this board being relevant to a minority of parents even as recently as last year.

Wouldn't it make sense to have a separate board for secondary education, rather than having these ones silted up with queries about state schools, given that it's of no relevance to 7% of UK parents?

20% in London, apparently :)

Looking forward to sitting through months of questions about secondary appeals

And I am just waiting for the...

" We live in Glasgow and my son has got a place at Tiffin, does anyone want to car share, or is there a minbus?"

thread.

Peregrina · 02/03/2016 11:33

Worst of all are the threads about will DC get into AHS or WHS or whatever and no more information. We can work out that H S stands for High School, but the first initial could be shared with any number of schools up and down the country.

We don't have a clue as to where you live, but are expected to offer an opinion as to your chances.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2579538-Can-we-have-separate-board-for-London

If this came to pass, then perhaps specific London school reviews could be encouraged over there? I think quite a lot of the alphabet soup schools are London ones (eg the WHS of your example)

fabhead · 02/03/2016 12:22

Would have to be London and southeast no? As there is a massive cross over with Kent, Surrey, herts schools with kids travelling in and out both ways.

That would inflame the "MN is London-centric" objections though maybe.

Or this muppet on a board somewhere else...

"We are in SM2 postcode so interested to hear if anyone else from down this way, not sure yet how to get to Tiffin or where to move to to make his commute easier"

Croydon to Wimbledon is a mere 45 minutes.

I offer you this extract from one of the current crop of offers threads:

"Then about 6 weeks later we got an offer from 1st choice school - and same happened to kids in DS's class who had our local academy as their 1st choice. There can be an awful lot of movement as people take up independent school places/ move house/ realise commuting from Paris to a grammar in Orpington might not work after all "

Croydon to Wimbledon is a mere 45 minutes.

Plus bits at the beginning and end with the nice uphill walk to KCS Grin

I know QE Barnet offered a place to a child in Leeds the year before last.

Oh yes we now have a "most ridiculous school commute" thread.

Uphill walk? Bracing. Good for a growing lad!
