Options for the child who is only likely to get Cs?

Dd1 is bright verbally but processing difficulties make her struggle on paper. A real head to paper issue.

Likely to get C in everything, maybe a B in creative subjects if they actually allow creative subjects by then.

Was reading another thread on here which basically said those not getting A or B are unlikely to get into college.

So what hope is there for dd? How do I encourage her to work hard if the only examples I have read are a dead end job at the end of it.

Things she is interested in...
Technical Theatre
Police and particularly dog handling
Karate.
Politics

Shes brilliant at wood work and drama but everything else is just ok.

Feeling a bit hopeless at the moment tbh.

There are Performing Arts btech s which could include technical theatre. Or see if any theatres locally offer apprenticeships. Has she thought about NYT?

I'd keep the karate separate tbh and ask the teacher what level is required and Gould she assist with younger classes. Agree Public Services might be an alternative but you still need to meet criteria for your relevant force to progress.

It's a pity that young people are pretty much forced to stay in education till age 18 now whether they want to or not. Most people used to leave school and start working at 16. One used to be able to learn on the job, from the bottom up. I don't think that's possible nowadays.

There is no compulsion to stay in school until you are 18, just to stay in education and that can include apprenticeships, training schemes, college courses, volunteer work with part time education etc.

Courses like Animal Behaviour (lots of colleges like Merrist Woods Guildfod) prepare you to go into guide dog training, police horse training, police dog training, vet nurse which are all very niche and a lot more technical than it sounds.
