Senior schools options

I urgently need advice on which senior school is best for my DS. He is currently in yr 8, very witty, confident but sensitive, very eloquent. slightly above average academically, loves art and football(not the best player though), he can be laid back but given the right motivation can achieve surprising results. we currently have offers fromcharterhouse, oundle and kings Canterbury. He prefers full boarding as we are not fully resident in the Uk and he wants a school with a healthy number of international students. The pastoral care is very important as he is sensitive and I want a school than can stretch him academically without breaking him. His headmaster things we should have a plan b for less challenging schools which we can look at together in January. Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Charterhouse isn't full boarding, primarily weekly boarders, (I have a friend who works there she never works Sunday because most go home). Kings Canterbury is mainly full boarding with a small number of day pupils. Over the years I've known lots who went there, very clever, shy, clever, sporty, musical, arty, conventional, bloody odd, all bar 1 have been been very happy. Canterbury is a nice civilised city, being in a city is good because it provides even more activities etc at the weekend and I don't think suits teenagers.

Sorr does suit teenagers.

Thank you happy-gardening we went for the open day today and myDS loved it. He's a bit of a scatter brain and hence we've requested for a house on campus. He did love the town I'm just concerned it won't be a distraction for him

Sorry to be blunt but is your HM effectively telling you your DS may not achieve his CE requirements next year? If he already has (pre-test?) offers from those three schools is there any necessity for more?

I don't think anyone would describe Canterbury as a place teenagers will get distracted I suspect weekends aside it's virtually dead after 9 pm! There are a lot of university students there nightlife is aimed at there age group.

Agree with gruach, CE criteria for Kings are not high.
