MFL not available at A level, only at IB

I was idly looking at the brother school's website of my old school today (separate boys and girls schools but with a shared sixth form) and noticed that they have introduced the IB as well as A levels.

They only offer MFL if you are doing the IB, but not A levels (so you can't for example do History, Geography and French A levels). So if you want to do MFL you also have to do science, Maths, an arty subject etc and can only do one language.

Can anyone enlighten me as to why this would be? They seem to offer most other subjects for A level without conditions.

Could it perhaps be that they only have enough MFL teachers on the staff to cover the timetable for IB and lower down the school?

Possibly but the girls' school offers A level MFL so I wonder why the boys can't do A levels with the girls' school staff. When I was there I was taught by teachers in both schools, and there were for example two History courses taught by staff in each school. And geography too.

A-level MFLs are a scandal. IB MFLs are much better. School sounds pretty savvy to me!
