Hello All, complete newbie. I'm looking at all girls flexi boarding. Not too hothouse an atmosphere and Godolphin and st Gabriel's sound like they might fit the bill. I can't find St Gabriel's in the good schools guide and the website not clear...does anyone know if they have flexi boarding or any info on st Gabriel's in general please?
Thanks in advance.

The front page of the website clearly states it is an independent day school for girls and boys 3 to 11 and girls 11 to 18.

Thank you, hopefully I'll hear some opinions of mums with girls there.

I do have a daughter there, but you say you are looking for boarding and it is a day school so assumed this made it not an option for you.
It is not a hot house and has good pastoral care.
If you look at the schools Twitter feed it will you a good idea of everyday life.

Thank you much appreciated. I am looking for a mainly day but wanted to give her the option to flexi if possible.
Also looking at Godolphin in Salisbury. Our choices are narrowed down by preferring all girls and being within reasonable commute of london.
Seems like St Gabriel's would tuck the boxes were it a flexi.
Also looking at Headington in Oxford.
Thanks again, any further pls let me know.

It is very, much a day school whilst there are some activities and prep till 6.30pm in truth the vast majority go home at 4pm three to four days a week.
A large number of girls take part in external extracurricular activities hence the prompt 4pm finish.

Hi, I have just started working at St Gabriel's and I am really enjoying the friendly atmosphere. I would encourage you to come and visit - the next Open Morning is Sat 3rd October. Our new website should be live by next week which will hopefully give you a clearer view and as Lonecatwithkitten suggests the twitter feed @StGabrielsNews will also give you a better idea about the day to day life of the school.

I'd have thought Headington and St Gabriel's are quite different.

Where do you live that you could be considering a day school in such a wide geographical area?

merrygoround1 · 17/09/2015 01:16

We are abroad part time but planning on moving back for year 7. Looking at more day girls than boarders or equal numbers of day and boarders.
South east, south west, within an hour or so on the train to london and definitely flexi boarding offered.
The areas we are looking at for reasons of family and friends proximity are Hampshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, West Sussex in that order.
fastdaytears could you expand?
Headington might be too pressurized, ditto St Swithuns, The Abbey, and St Mary's Calne....
Godolphin, Westbirton, Stonar, might be more up our street, Dorset too far, prefer all girls. Tudor Hall sounds good but no flexi boarding..
Thanks again very much for any advice.

Hi merrygoround I realise this is a very old thread but am in a very similar spot to where you were in 2015 and wondered how you got on and if you had any pointers please? Any info gratefully received, feel free to pm if you have time. Thx

Collins7777 I found this thread looking at similar. I can confirm St Gabriel's Newbury does not offer Flexi-boarding. I did find that Queen Anne's does offer. Hope this helps!
