Mine take the ones you buy water in, wash & refill until they get too battered/leaky then throw them away.

TheSecondOfHerName · 05/09/2015 09:14

Well, recycle them, but ykwim.

AtiaoftheJulii · 05/09/2015 09:17

My kids use cycling bidons.

sirphlebas · 05/09/2015 10:52

they don't use them ime - they might buy a bottle of water on PE days or if it is sweltering but they don't have proper water bottles.

OnlyTheDepthVaries · 05/09/2015 10:58

Mine wouldn't dream of having a "proper" water bottle. They use old coke /water bottles which I wash out a few times then recycle.

Thanks. I didn't realise that and don't want my dd to look silly. She has to walk up a long, steep hill wearing a jumper and blazer on the way to school, so I think she needs something. Maybe I'll have to get some Evian type water bottles then. Thank you

Same as above.

Give them money to buy their own and then refill.

But be aware that the slipping agents in the lid degrade over time (DH is a materials scientist) so one day, without warning, it will leak all over their bag and books. Two weeks max use should avoid that.

dementedpixie · 05/09/2015 11:04

My dd takes a sistema one that she had been using at primary school. Not that she drinks much from it anyway!

CarlaJones · 05/09/2015 11:05

Thanks

The kids round here with too much pocket money buy Bobble water bottles with built-in filter. At least they are for re-using, I suppose.

Idefix · 05/09/2015 19:54

Dd has just started yr 10 and insisted that essential school kit included a camelbak eddy to transport her water in Grin

lemon888 · 06/09/2015 10:18

Op just let your dc decide.

balletgirlmum · 06/09/2015 10:25

DD loses them so frequently (left behind in dance studio) that we find its cheaper to buy a multipack of spring water from Aldi.

BackforGood · 07/09/2015 00:20

Same as most - my dc just use an empty plastic bottle that's loitering in the cupboard until it gets lost, then get another one out - old squash or pop bottle or water bottle or anything.

We have a cupboard full of 'sports bottles' but they only ever use them at the weekend, playing sport Confused

CarlaJones · 07/09/2015 10:34

Thanks. Re letting dd decide, I'm happy to, but she tends not to notice stuff like this, and would go for options that might look babyish at senior school, so I've tried to look at what the kids at the school had for bags/shoes/coats etc to help her out a bit. Couldn't do it for bottles though.

Another one where the kids take empty water/juice bottles.
