lunch box for year 7?

Dear All,

My son is about to start year 7 at Forest School in Wokingham. We recently moved to Lower Earley from Twickenham so he doesn't have any friends here yet. Yesterday I was buying his school uniform etc and asked him what type of lunch box he would like. I said he didn't want one as it it apparently not 'cool' to have one anymore! is that true? wonder if anyone else is having to deal with similar issues...

My year 7 girl took a large sandwich bag and everything went in there. She wouldn't be seen with a lunchbox.

Mine takes a plain Tupperware box. Much the same as I take for work. His choice and has had no comments from others. He says his friends all take the same.

Mine takes a plain Tupperware box as well

It's not cool to have one with 'childish' pictures on it. My DC just used the plain tupperware type and shoved it in school bag, seems to be the norm and it wasn't an issue.

Plain Tupperware box here as well for DS now year 10 (how did that happen!).

DD is going into year 7 and is going to use a pink plastic box that she used in year 6, if the colour is a problem she will swap that for a plain box and I will use the pink one.

Agree plain Tupperware type. Would suggest buying a couple of spares as they tend to vanish regularly then all return at the end of term compete with mould!

No more lunchboxes here, very small tubbaware sandwich box in his bag (sometimes just sandwiches in foil) everything else in various pockets of his bag. Ds also has a small amount of lunch money to supplement, some days too.

Tupperware or just a sandwich bag.

Decorhate · 16/08/2015 14:09

Here it's just a plastic carrier bag with sandwiches in foil/cling film/sandwich bag plus a drink, etc. Whole lot gets dumped at end of lunch

TheFirstOfHerName · 16/08/2015 21:03

Older kids take their lunch in a supermarket carrier bag.

Y7 could possibly get away with a plain Tupperware type box.

Chewbecca · 16/08/2015 22:07

Yep, I've been told that a sandwich stuffed in the blazer pocket is the acceptable route...

Plain Tupperware boxes here for my boys in U6 and yr 11. Dd1 will have the same too.

Celeriacacaca · 20/08/2015 11:08

Plain Tupperware for both DS, Y9, and DD, Y8. Friends all do the same.
