Mixed bag here. DD has 2 As, one C and has failed the 4th subject altogether. She needs AAB for Uni course she wants. One of the As is in her top subject that she wants to do at Uni, so that's good. But will that failed AS hold her back massively? That year spent studying the subject she's failed was a complete waste of time if she's nothing to show for it ????

Three A levels will be fine, don't declare the failed AS they will never know about it. As long as she gets the grades in the three she needs then it's all fine.

Yes Imperial, the low D became a safe B. It definitely can be done, but it required the input of teachers to say she was capable of getting good results and hard work. Her poor AS results were down to laziness.

Yes, I know it can be done as some of my students did it, but it means getting a really fantastic mark to drag that D up, particularly if it was a low D. It really shows the level of work she's done - congratulations to her! (And what a relief for you, too!)

Just continue the 3 AAB subjects for A2 and put 100% effort into them.

Forget the failed AS. (I am a sixth form subject teacher and Higher Education adviser at my school).
