All good news so far! I have only heard back from 2 students, one got a 6, the other a 4.

They are both above predicted.

Congrats to your dd scortes, 39 is fantastic. And Bristol is a fantastic city to be a student.

We should allow these students to relax for the rest of the summer, they have worked extremely hard.

Just about all the returning students that I have spoken to over the years (and this a lot) have told me that the IB was a brilliant preparation for university work.

Dd just got results 40! I am so proud of her! but she seems upset because she only got 1 higher 7 history but she was only off 7s in her higher by 1 point each English and philsosphy can she have thess ones remarked?

basildonbond · 06/07/2015 15:15

she should be very pleased hass - 40 is way above average - but yes if she's very close to the grade boundaries she can get a remark and ds's school says they come back pretty quickly

ds is still v pleased with his 39 but realises that if he hadn't pissed about in maths in Y12 (he took maths a year early as he'd got A* at GCSE) he'd now be looking at 41 which would open even more doors than 39

congratulations to scortes' dd too

and fingers crossed for those still waiting

40 points is an astonishing acheivement. She needs to feel proud of what she has accomplished and appreciate she will be snapped up by the best universities around the world.

39 is also an excellent acheivement. It is an on going message that (I)GCSE scores are not a reliable indicator of scores in the IB, especially at HL.

She certainly can apply for a remark. I can't remember how much it was now - I've the figures of £38 and £68 in my head????

I always worry about the re-marking business.

I think it needs to be remembered that the whole IBO is in fact a profit making business, despite its proclaimed adherence to such moral values as 'caring' and 'integrity'.

So, I think parents/students need to take a pragmatic view of their chances.

Well done to all the dc that got such fantastic IB results today Smile
