King's College, Winchester - in Catchment Area but on Waiting List

Hello!! I am new to this list. We are moving to Winchester and we lucky to find a house in the King's catchment area. We currently have two kids for the September intake to Y7 and Y9 and on the waiting list. We applied last week as late applications.

Any suggestions on what we should do to get in? We are moving from abroad and do not quite understand how the application process works.

Thank you and looking forward to being an active member.

Flybe do the Southampton Barcelona route and have a pet hub at Southampton : dog will need to be in a carrier in the hold though.
Might be easier for one of you to come up by train.

At Kings the pupils are either given the text books for the term or for the lesson. Revision guides for KS3 & KS4/GCSE can be bought from the school often at cost price otherwise you can get them from Amazon or Waterstones in Winchester. Wait til your sons are at school before buying them just to ensure that you have the correct syllabus/exam board.

Most of the homework is set, completed and marked online so access to the Internet is desirable.

Things that they will need are writing materials, pens, pencils, highlighters, etc and a scientific calculator, protractor and compass. There is an excellent shop at the to of the High St called 'Warrens', otherwise you can get most of the stuff they need at the larger supermarkets or WH Smiths during the holidays (often on offer).

I'm nor sure what you need for PSC - TalkinPeace can you advise?

Heidi
at PSC nothing is provided free.
But its all available incredibly cheap / subsidised through college.
I've spent around £400 this year on books and past paper packs and equipment (5 subjects admittedly)
