DD in the middle of exams and diagnosed with Glandular Fever

My Dd has been poorly for a few weeks. She was diagnosed with tonsillitis but has not improved. The results came back today confirming Glandular fever and increased liver enzymes.

The doctor is writing me a letter for school. However, this has affected her ability to revise for her exams and she has really struggled. She has sat all her exams so far but is exhausted, is not eating and is a bit yellow.

Does anyone know how I can ensure that the exam board are aware of this, is there a set procedure. I have contacted school and I'm waiting for someone to call me to discuss it.

The exams officer will need to put in an application for special consideration. The exam board can add one or two percent to each of her final marks.

Thanks. Hopefully they will call me back soon and I can get the ball rolling.

I can't give you any advice re: exam board. However, I do know of someone whose DD was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago. They got the school to agree that she only needs to go in for exams, so she's not spending unnecessary energy going back and forth.

Hope she manages to get through the next few weeks okay and her results aren't affected too much.

Thanks. I really feel for her. The tonsillitis hit her hard. She needed 2 lots of antibiotics. She was coughing up blood. Her glands were huge and she was yellow.
She is absolutely exhausted, feels sick, constant headaches and no appetite.
She has managed a fair amount of revision and hasn't left the house apart from going to school.
We will keep our fingers crossed that her results are not too affected.

Which year is she in?
If she is doing her A2 might it be worth contacting her Uni choices or getting the school to contact them directly? Confused. - I don't know if it is but just something to think about.

I feel so sorry for her, it's really bad luck. At least with glandular fever it's obvious that she is not trying it on and that she must be really sick. iyswim. I hope she feels better soon. Thanks

How were her mocks? If her final results are at odds with her mocks then you might have more cause to expect special consideration.

It's her gcse exams. She did well in her mocks. Especially science where she got an A*.
She has chosen chemistry and biology as A levels.

School will have a form for you to fill in (probably one for each exam board), and they get sent off. There's a link on this page to a full explanation - www.jcq.org.uk/exams-office/access-arrangements-and-special-consideration
