Secondary school appeal: what to say about allocated school

I've just received the info pack for my DD's appeal in a couple of weeks. I've read a lot of threads about appeals, and all of them seem to say that it's not about appealing against the school you've been allocated, but for the school you want, and that doing down the allocated school won't do you any favours. That seems reasonable.

However, in the info I've been sent it says appellants should consider a list of questions which include 'Do you think your child's allocated school is suitable? If not, why not?'. This seems to suggest that you do need to, not do down, obviously, but be clear about what's wrong with the allocated school, rather than simply saying why you should get your preferred school.

I'm a bit confused about this now: should I go on about why I think the allocated school isn't suitable, or not?

No you shouldn't. You should instead explain why you think the appeal school is more suitable than the allocated school. So, having established in your own mind why the allocated school is not suitable you should then figure out why the appeal school is different and hence more suitable.
