Hi guys, I'm yet to send of the appeal form the deadline is The 28th of march so I really need to send it off on Monday. The thing is I don't know what to write. Basically my daughter didn't get her first choice and got her second choice. She has a Physical disability that the first school would suit her the best( new building, part of a special school, has a ground and upper floor only, disabled access) given School is a 5 storey building old office block in the middle of the city centre,no parking. My daughter can not walk up many stairs because of back and hip problems and will not go in a lift(has a phobia) any ideas how I should put this all down on paper? Im waiting for supporting letters of consultant, physio, ot and our primary school Senco (she's not statemented) and these will be submitted as soon as I get them.
school we wanted is are local school(10 min walk) last child admitted was 833 metres and we are 920 metres
The school given my son goes to who is in year 7 (will this hinder the appeal??) It involves 2 bus rides and the school set up Is totally not suitable for her but ok for him. Im prepared to have 2 children in two different schools . Sorry if my post is all over the place, im feeling really down about it all and dont know how to start it, thanks

Put what you have said here. Your daughter has a disability and the appeal school is best suited for her for the reasons you have stated. You don't need to write a huge essay. A few bullet points will be enough.

Your son attending the allocated school will have no bearing on the appeal.

prh47bridge thanks for your quick reply Smile so bullet points would be best. Would I need to send a more detailed letter in with the supporting documents?

Yes, you should give more detail at that stage. Remember that you will be able to present your case at the hearing so even at that stage you can simply summarise your case if you wish. The important thing is that you must submit all the evidence you plan to use before the hearing.

Thankyou!!
Another thing is the offered school (head of yr 7)has actually said they dont think the school will be appropriate for her is that something I Would be aloud to use in the appeal?
And ive also found a mention on the school website that they lack the facilities for kids with disabilities/special needs

Do you have his comments in writing? If not I would be cautious about using them. But the information from the website is definitely relevant.

No I don't have it in writing unfortunately.

Going to send off the appeal form tomorrow only dead line is Friday. I was kind of hoping I would have got some of the support letters by now as I didn't want to contradict any thing said.

Would that be a problem because I'm not sure exactly what will be written in them.

You can submit an outline case now and say that you will be submitting a full case with supporting evidence later. That isn't a problem.
