Applying for schools in two different Borough's?

Hi all,

Is it possible to apply for schools in different Borough's? We live in Wandsworth but my DS goes to school in Kensington and Chelsea, which is where his dad lives. He stays there with him part time and the rest with me. Could he sit the exam for Wandsworth? But still use the form for Kensington and Chelsea?

Thank you!

You can apply, regardless of Borough lines.

However, you can use only one address on the application and it must be the one where your DS is normally resident most of the time. Wandsworth is, these days, very hot on checking even the smallest anomaly particulary for its more popular schools.

But yes, you can apply for Graveney and sit the Wandsworth test from out of Borough. But he'll need a very high score, as if he gets the tie-break score he'll lose out on distance from an RBKC address.

You put your application through the Borough where your child lives, listing all the schools you want in the order you want them. Wandsworth publish Test arrangements for children not attending Wandsworth primary schools on its website.

Thanks girls. DS currently spends more time with me but I am going to use his dads address as this is the one we have listed with his primary school. He will also fill out the form for secondary schools and provide his council tax reference number, which is what I believe they use?

I'm sorry but you cannot use his father's address for admission purposes. You must use the address where your son lives for the majority of the time. You can only use his father's address if your son spends at least 50% of his time there. Even then, if either of you receives child benefit the address of the parent making the claim will be used.

What you are currently proposing would be regarded as a fraudulent application. This means your son could lose his place at the offered school even after he has started there.

Thanks for all the advice. I guess we will have to apply in K and C only then as he is registered there, dentist etc. He has been spending more time with us of late as his father has been travelling but he collects him from clubs and then he stays there.

You just said he spent most of time with you in Wansdworth.......

If you read my earlier message you would see that I said he 'currently' spends more time with me. We have joint custody of our son, although he wants to live with his father.
