Bullying at KGS?

MNqwerty2015 · 11/03/2015 12:27

We are in the usual hectic process of casting our net out to see which schools might work for our DS. KGS is on our 'potentials' list but I have recently heard that KGS has some problems with bullying. Can anyone cast any light on this to reassure me? I had previously heard that their pastoral care was excellent, I now have my doubts?

which KGS - there are several

BunnyCake · 12/03/2015 14:55

Maybe Kirkwall Grammar School or perhaps Kesteven and Grantham?

EdithWeston · 12/03/2015 14:59

The Grantham one is KGGS, and all girls, so won't be that.

Unkess it was brain-in-neutral for Kings?

GoodArvo · 12/03/2015 15:01

Kingston Grammar School?

CMOTDibbler · 12/03/2015 15:01

There are lots of KGS as in Kings too

castlesintheair · 12/03/2015 16:23

I'd hazard a guess at Kingston Grammar School.

MaeMobley · 12/03/2015 18:51

agree with Castles as Op lives in Richmond.

Has anybody heard of bullying at Kingston Grammar?

Notinaminutenow · 12/03/2015 23:12

There's bullying at all schools and schools are lying if they claim otherwise.

It is the speed and robustness with which they deal with it that is key.

Sorry for the delay TalkinPeace. I've been away on a short break. I should have been a bit clearer. You get so used to using these school acronyms. As others have pointed out, I was referring to Kingston Grammar School. I know that they now have a new Headmaster. Could the change in pupil care and maintenance (if an issue) be due to the a change in policy/culture because of the new Head? Focus on certain aspects of the school and drop the ball on others?

I'm interested in this OP as I have a DC starting there in September. I've never heard of a problem but I do know there have been changes as a consequence of the new head.

orangeplum · 14/03/2015 08:25

Would be interested to hear what changes you have heard about Castles - good or bad?

Chocfinger · 14/03/2015 09:28

Also have a DC starting there in Sept and we certainly wouldn't go down that route of we thought there was an issue. We know lovely, happy kids there. Both DC and I really liked the head- and the deputy head who answered a query about how the schools deals with bullying - swiftly, it's not tolerated, we work with all the children involved and follow up. I think bullying can happen anywhere- I haven't actually heard of any SW London independents which have a reputation of not being on top of it...

Soulsearcher do you not think that your personal experience (albeit horrific) from a few decades ago is not particularly relevant to people thinking about sending their children there now?

Blu · 30/09/2015 11:38

Really sorry that anyone endured bullying and was not then supported but

"2)Overperforming ‘Classless Thugs’ who lack the right background or financial support to gain entry into one of the elite independent schools."

is not a great way to talk about people.
