Best maths workbooks for Yr 7?

DD has always been quite good at maths. She did well in the 11+ and is now at grammar school but it's not a super selective one.

She seemed to be coping fine with the maths but then just before Christmas she was really poorly and had a week off school. Since then she feels she is struggling more and is especially stuck on fractions.

They recently sat a mid year maths test and she only got a Level 5c. Her predicted maths level for the end of year 7 should be Level 5a. I am worried that to gain two sub levels by July will be an uphill struggle for her.

She's asked for some maths work books which she can start using, and admits she was never sure of fractions in year 6.

Could someone recommend some friendly easy to use work books?

How about Maths Factor (online) or BBC bitesize?

Yes, I'd agree with Bonsoir, especially for BBC Bitesize, as they have a lot of games that we used when DD was going for 11+ (they go right up to GCSE). Y7 is quite tough IMO and certainly a lot more so than Y8 in many schools, not just DD's. I would also recommend Mr Barton Maths (think this is best page of it here www.mrbartonmaths.com/blog/good-maths-websites-websites-pupils-students-parents/ as we enjoyed that. If she gets a lot of homework for most subjects, it really will help not to stress her out if it's fun (though it's promising that she's asking for this. I can't imagine DD doing that!). If she/you are hell-bent on workbooks, then the ones we found the most use were the Bond ones and also these ones www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/qs_product_tbp?storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=100&productId=497286&cm_mmc=Google%20Adwords--PLA--Maths+Levels+4-5-_--AKEKJ&gclid=CKOW-cPDhcQCFQfMtAodx1YAMQ

I'd second and third Bitesize, also Khan Academy have some very good videos explaining things - like having a teacher on video, you can rewind and repeat. Once your DD gets the basics of fractions she will be fine again.

www.cimt.plymouth.ac.uk/projects/mep/default.htm is good. You can look around and find whatever you want. Lots of explanation, examples and exercises, graduated in difficulty. Also there are interactive pages which give instant feedback.

Does her school use Mymaths? You can use that for lessons and practice without having to have a homework set in it.
