Harrow Interviews year six - what to expect?

To my surprise (probably shows how ignorant I am Blush ) my DS has been invited to interview with three HouseMasters at Harrow this term Shock. I must admit this has taken me somewhat by surprise as I was not expecting Harrow to call on him until year seven Confused and I really don't know what to expect. Anyone with any experience, hints or tips much appreciated!
Also, if anyone has any inside wrt the different houses it would be great to get a better feel than the somewhat 'impersonal' descriptions from the website.

Hello, I've PM'd you.

Thank you Mothers for taking time to share your experience.
I was a little (very) surprised with the early invitation as I thought we had until year seven, but perhaps it is a new(ish) thing?
Any other input very much appreciated!

Have u seen the documentary too poor for posh school its probably on u tube it follows boys going through the peter beckwith scholarship process , you might be able to glean something from that I was a while ago but they are shown interviewing the boys .

First off - being invited to meet 3 housemasters before the pre-selection is a v good sign. From my son's prep school all those that were invited and were then offered firm house interest have been offered conditional places. Don't treat it as a slam dunk but it is step 1 of the process.

Questions vary from housemaster to housemaster but the general commonality is that they want boys that have many things to offer outside of the classroom and are team players. Questions are about involvement - what if somebody doesn't want to do (a team sport for example) how would you encourage them to join in?

I'll try and remember some of the other questions and pm me if you want specifics.

On the whole if you son is interested in many things and can talk about them then he will be fine. If he only enjoys school, reading and watching TV then he will struggle.

Thank you so much for your input Fulham!
I really hope it works out that way, but we will not see it as anything else than another step in the process.
Seems like a very good idea to introduce the boys to various HMs to get a better insight into the school and how it operates.

DS certainly enjoys reading and watching TV (TG in particular) but that is only on the rare occasions that he has time to do this as most of the time he is outside playing some form of sport or other game (spying is high on his list at the moment)...
I will PM you! thank you for your kind offer!
