Should I send dd's poem to her English teacher?

Dd, Y7, struggles with self-confidence. She's good at English, but panics easily and pressure turns her into a rabbit-in-the-headlights.

She wrote a beautiful poem at home. WIBU to email it to her English teacher?

Not at all.

I am sure her teacher would love to see it and will give your DD lots of praise and encouragement. Have done similar with both my DCs and teachers involved have always been thrilled to see evidence of interest in their subject outside the classroom. Go for it! Smile

I'm an English teacher and I would be delighted to see a poem which a student had written in their own time, especially if it gave me an opportunity to praise a shy child and boost their confidence.

(I do prefer not to receive requests demands to read, proof read and edit the 400 page fan fiction novels produced by very earnest Yr 8s. Grin ). Those are for parents to enjoy! But a poem or short story would be lovely.

By all means email but perhaps wait until term starts.

Thanks. I thought maybe I was being a bit precious.

Have you mentioned the idea to your dd? I'd only send it in with her agreement.

I'm an English teacher. Novels? No! Poem? Yes, most definitely :-)
