Whitgift/Trinity sport courses

Just visited Whitgift this week (or Hogwarts as I wanted to call it Grin ) with DS. He loved it, of course, but have heard on previous threads about the half term sport courses. Do they take any notice if you attend? Do you think it goes on the 'showing effort' box on the application form? I also see that Trinity run them too. We are planning to consider that school too so do they take notice?

Thanks! We need major scholarships to both schools to make it feasible so anything that will help us, I'll do!!!

My DS wasn't particularly sporty, and even if we'd known about the sports courses, there is no way that I would have got him to go. He had offers at 10+ from both schools so I don't think it matters at all.
He has been playing rugby for the school for the last 3 seasons too - so they get them eventually Wink

BTW we obviously weren't going for a sports scholarship so don't know if that would make a difference.

Thanks! No, we wouldn't be going for the sports scholarships either but just wondered if they kept a note. BTW, which way did you go and how is your DS finding it? I know boys at both schools and they both rave about them.

It's not so much that they keep a note (although they may do!) but on the application form they will ask if ds has attended courses etc and it never does any harm to show interest as early as possible. If your ds is sporty and would enjoy it then I would say it's worth attending.

We went with T. He is now in Y8 and we are very happy there. I think going from a fairly laid-back primary where he always seem to coast along to a set up where everyone was bright and they were expected to work was a huge shock to start with, but now he knows what is expected and actually seems to enjoy the challenges set for him. He also enjoys the extra-curricular opportunities. Good luck with your journey - currently going through it all with DD!
