How much homework in Grammar compared to State schools?

Hi,
Anyone who can give an indication of how much homework you receive at a Grammar school, compared to a State school, generally, especially in Year 7?

I know it's a big step up up from Primary wherever you go, and that the schools vary individually, but as a general rule?

How much time does your child spend on homework a day/week?

Thank you!

If you believe mine they get very little :) (grammar schools). Particularly in years 8 & 10.

GoodArvo I disagree with setting a timer for 30 minutes. from personal experience, a lot of the grammar children in my area prepare for the 11 plus in this way. Admittedly it may be more intimidating for those children who never prepared for the 11 plus or have had little experience in sitting exams.

Having a timer on for exam practice is rather different to regular homework.

I've never signed a planner in my life. I have 3 DCs at secondary school, 2 at a grammar one at a comp.

Ds year 7 hasn't had as much homework as I had expected to be honest.
The school call it "home learning"
He has a planner which is regularly checked but parents do not sign it.

I think the homework will increase after half term.
At ds's school they were recently put into sets and at parents evening last night it seemed that the teachers didn't know enough about the dc to comment.
One said "I've only been teaching him for 3 weeks" mmm so why have parents evening so early in the term? ( sorry for de-rail:) )
