School lockers does your school have enough for each child?

Does your secondary school have enough lockers for each student? Does your DC use the locker if they have one? If your DC doesn't have a locker how do you feel about them carting around all their books, PE equipment all day? Do they often lose things at school? Do you hold the school or your child responsible if they lose property? At the school I work at there are not enough lockers and children are constantly losing things and often the parents seem to hold the school responsible. I am interested to hear what others think? Thanks

At open day, Headteacher taking us round (not in a select bunch, by chance we got the Head). Someone asked about lockers and were told they'd been identified as a health and safety issue on inspection and so abolished and students had to bring stuff in each day. I asked if carrying everything back and forth and around all day wasn't also a health and safety issue. I wasn't trying to be smart, question just popped out. Head bit my head off. (DC went elsewhere, wasn't only reason)

We have to pay £10 a year for the privilege. Not enough for even half the students. Crazy. They are also in the most inaccessible places. I personally think all rooms should have mobile phone lockers these days. Come in lock your phone away, take it at the end of the lesson kind of thing. Like a swimming pool locker, except smaller and you should get the momey back!

Only enough for year 7 and year 12 at DS's school.

DS didn bother using IT for the last half of yr7 as it wasn't in a convenient place.

Does your secondary school have enough lockers for each student? - Yes but there's not enough space for the sports bag which is just left in the locker room.

Does your DC use the locker if they have one? - Yes. pupils have to keep their bags in the lockers and are required to go to them before each lesson to pick up books/equipment.

If your DC doesn't have a locker how do you feel about them carting around all their books, PE equipment all day? - I'd be unhappy about it if she didn't have a locker as her bag/sports equipment weighs a lot.

Do they often lose things at school? - No. Only one pair of goggles in Y7 and nothing so far in Y8.

Do you hold the school or your child responsible if they lose property? - The child though i wouldn't punish my child for losing something. These things happen.

DD will be cycling to school in the summer so her locker will be tight on space when there's a helmet, shoes, waterproof & change of clothes to fit in there.

She also plays an instrument which she has stopped taking to school as there's nowhere to lock it up. She now uses a school instrument which doesn't sound as good Sad

No lockers at all at DD's school, they cart everything around all day. ridiculous in my opinion!

My kids don't have lockers but are still in primary (well, my oldest is technically in secondary but he's in a year 3-8 building).

My kids also don't have lots of huge textbooks yet.

If they did, and they did not have a locker, I would be very unhappy and I would probably be inclined to do something about it.
