Does Statistics count as a good AS Level?!

My daughter is doing Biology, Psychology and Eng Lit AS Level and thinking of picking up Statistics to go with them. But it is hardly mentioned on any lists - either good or bad lists! - so it is hard to know if she should do Maths instead. Does anyone have any experience of University reactions to students with Stats rather than maths?

Has she done Stats GCSE, does she know that she likes it?
I only ask because it's quite different to Maths. My DC both did Maths and Stats at GCSE and both love maths but hate stats. There is usually some statistics in the Maths A level.
DS1 is now doing Maths at uni and still hates Statistics. I suspect a Maths AS might be slightly more regarded by a uni than Stats but it would depend on the subject.

It depends what subject she wants to study at university. If she would like to study Biological sciences or Pyschology at uni, statistics would be very useful.

Thanks so much - yes, I think it might be useful for her and she prefers it to Maths, though she got A* for both at GCSE. I sometimes think it is hard for kids as they feel they ought to do 'facilitating subjects' but then don't enjoy them so much...she is now looking at Chemistry too, and didn't really enjoy that for GCSE but sees it can open up Science degree choices so may just force herself to do it. I think she'd prefer Drama but that doesn't look so 'good'...!

She's right that A level Chemistry would open more doors at degree level e.g. Biochemistry and Medical Sciences. However A level Chemistry is a difficult subject and am not sure if I would recommend it to a student who doesn't enjoy the subject.
Guess it depends on what she didn't like about Chemistry GCSE. A level Chemistry has more Maths and calculations which may appeal to a student who likes Maths. Would suggest she finds out more about the course before she makes her final choices.

I though statistics was a module within AS maths, not its own subject?

What kind of results do the school get in chem? I think it depends a lot on the teacher.Ihad a terriblel chemistry teacher and was very hazy about it all, wheras my Dc have an exceptional H of D for chemistry who writes study texts, and get very good results.
