Should I request remark of English Language WJEC GCSE/FC papers?

My daughter achieved two A in units 3 and 4 (total 68UMA) in her controlled assessment yet in her exam papers achieved two D (32 UMA each) in both papers which gives her a overall score of 132 UMS, C grade overall. She felt confident after both exams that she had done enough and the grade expected of her was an A by her tutor. She herself expected was expecting A or B. I have reviewed the marking system and understand this to mean her mark was 21.3/40 for each exam paper. And to move up a grade (B) to achieve 140UMS the papers would have to be remarked at 24/40 marks or > for each paper.
My question is 2.7 marks for each paper realistic to achieve if remarked so 5.4marks to obtain that B grade overall??
Given she did so well in her controlled assessment does not make sense to myself and given she herself is "gutted" by the result.

I have spoken to the school already to contact her tutor for his opinion on this. But don't expect a reply until the new term starts.

Good luck. I have been trying to sort out a remark for my son. If I have to wait another week to speak to a teacher I will probably just pay and go ahead. He is 3 marks off over 2 papers. The exam officer said she felt that was about the limit. Not sure of each school has a different policy and the teacher will know best

This is just experience but in around 50% of remarks the grade stays the same. In 25% in may go up if the grade is just short ( by no more than two marks usually) and in some cases, the mark actually goes down, even if it does not change the grade

Unless there is a clear error in marking ( this is why you send for the paper by the fastest method possible immediately after the results come out) the grade is likely to stand. It may go up and still be a C. It may go down and still be a C. I do not think, with the result as it is, the grade will drop to D (but it is within possibility, as with any remark).

In 20 years of pupils asking for remarks , often without my knowing anything about, I have had only ONE student whose grade went up and with him, we knew there was an error ( a glaring one - a question had not been marked) when we sent it. I have known several drop in marks even though the grade has not been affected. I have known fewer go up a mark or two but still remain the same grade.

I had one student who went ahead with a re mark and ended up a grade lower ( her mark was barely above the grade boundary she had received and she went from a pass to a fail ( this was A level in her case).

WJEC particularly, is usually pretty good at being consistent in marking in my experience.

But if you want a re mark no point in waiting , go for it. Most teachers have little or no real say anyway, its a parents and SLT decision.

Different exam board but my DD had an English GCSE remarked as she was 2ums off the A last November unfortunately it stayed the same. Similar situation for RE, one paper went up and the other down.

My elder DD had 3 GCSEs remarked two went up and one stayed the same. The history paper that was remarked went up by 12 points and The chemistry by 8 so there is a chance.

Thank you for your thoughts and experiences on this. My daughter has excepted the mark and does not want me now to go ahead. Should I respect her wishes?
I still feel I would like to progress this although the outcome appear very slim.
