How much did it cost? How did it work exactly?

Oh ffs, I'll try again. ...

I had a look at that MyTutorWeb site you linked to on the other thread. Are you aware that they charge their tutors £6 per hour (from the £16 you pay) for using their virtual classroom? That seems to be an awfully rough deal for the student doing the actual teaching tbh. By the time you take away additional costs for the student doing the teaching, such as graphics pad, headphones etc which they say the tutors must have, plus time for planning the session, feedback, marking etc, I'd be surprised if the tutors are even making minimum wage.

Other sites and agencies don't take such a large cut from what is already a very small fee in the first place.

DianaJohnson is the name of the OP. I was trying to address my comments to her, but failed spectacularly. My point was that the agency the OP used and referred to on another thread uses only undergraduate students, who pay the agency £6 for every hour they are tutoring for. This seems to be somewhat taking advantage of young (and sometimes rather naive) students, who are looking for an easy job which they can fit in with their studies.

There are some very good agencies (and individual tutors Wink) who offer online tuition, and online can be very effective method of accessing tuition, but I'd be somewhat wary of an agency which charges its tutors for using their services.

Haha, thanks for all the responses Margrat Grin.

I didn't talk about that with Jake, but you're right £10 per hour is not very much. He certainly won't be as experienced as you though given he has to manage it with his degree, so I guess they can't charge as much.

I had a good experience, but maybe I did underpay. There definitely are some individual tutors who offer very good value (Wink).
