Help! DD, 13, has fallen way behind with her maths and seems to lack basic skills, is online tuition any good?

We've just done a free trial of an online tutoring thing (I think it was maths whizz or something) and she didn't know how to do column addition! I'm not sure how she's got this far without it being picked up but she has found her Y8 teacher to be incomprehensible at all times. She's not said much about it until now.
We're thinking some online tuition throughout the summer holidays may be a good start, can anyone recommend please?

The Khan academy has 100's of free maths tutorials and tests that you work through. They go back to extreme basics. Maybe you could test those out first? They're really motivational as you earn stars and things as you go through each topic.

What level is your daughter? Has she made progress from her year 6 SATs starting position? Have you spoken to her teacher to try and identify any issues?
On-line work is good for certain students. I hesitate to call it 'tutoring' because a lot of on-line resources require a student to be motivated enough to teach themselves. This may suit your daughter or it may not.
Your daughters school may subscribe to mymaths.co.uk which is a useful resource for independent learning.
A frank conversation at school is necessary. What are both her predicted and aspirational GCSE grades at the moment? Does it match your expectation and what your daughter needs for her future career plans? Only with this information can you plan the next steps.

I used the one on a mumsnet sticky thread earlier this year mathsdoctor.co.uk and it was great for my dd. maths whizz isn't tutoring, just maths practice resources. Mathsdr is live online tutoring- if you search lots comes up.
