Boarding school - Trunks

Please can anyone advise what size trunk is suitable for starting boarding school? Also he requires a lockable tuck box, is that like a mini trunk? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you all... @millymollymama they have said trunk or case, no sizes specified. Only the tuck box had a size limit!

Ok. In that case I would go with a trunk but only if you have sack trucks available at school. If they mention trunks, they probably do. Trunks are heavy but you get more in, including books, but sports equipment and musical instruments were transported separately. We put two layers into the trunk using a base lining of a blanket and then repeating for the top layer. We then used the blankets like hammocks to get the contents up the stairs to the boarding house. Easy if you have accommodation on the ground floor of course. We had the standard sized tuck boxes from JL. My DDs took lots of clothes to school and lots of personal belongings so a trunk was better. Only the overseas pupils had suitcases. The school stored the trunks in the attic and the parents lugged the empty trunks up there! Happy days!!!

My DSs absolutely love prep school boarding, they live the holidays to get back there (obviously awful home life!) yes tough on all at the beginning but hey they love it. Large nylon suitcases on wheels with extendable handle...perfect trunk, back up with ikea bags if you are not at a snotty, pretentious school where real children become real adults! Love it. #topscottishprepschool
