DD is quited fixiated on getting in, making me quite anxious about it all. Would someone be kind enough to share any experiences, what are they looking for in the interview, and what is the difficulty level of the English exam?

I would be ever so grateful if someone could offer advise in this regard.

Many thanks

Our DD also wants a place at sixth form - excellent school and entirely understandable that your DD wants to go.

We found the admissions staff very helpful. If your daughter is suited to
WA then they will try to find a place. I suspect that if DD chooses the less popular subjects, her chances are greatly enhanced. It is a matter of practicality too for WA.

DD should also offer something extra - Music, Art, Drama, Sport etc. All the top schools seem to demand this and it is perfectly understandable.

Finally, presentation skills are everything. Everyone wants bright and pleasant DDs and nice families in the background, so I would expect WA to take a good look at you and OH without making it too obvious. There are many wanting to enrol at sixth form so they take whom they like.

Very odd, it is about your daughters, not about you.

My DD applied for, and got into, a similar 6th form. Basically at WA you need to be very bright and projected to get lots of A* and As at GCSEs.

My DD was asked to sit exams in her chosen A level subjects. My DH did not attend the open day so no-one ever looked at him. I think the school my DD applied to was far more interested in her. She did a lot of music and drama as well as other activities in school so had quite a lot to offer. Schools vary in what they ask candidates to do, but at the school we applied to, some girls were asked to sit their scholarship exams (my DD and quite a lot more) and these were the ones they were very interested in. My DD was given a reduced offer from their published standard one but not a scholarship. She visited the school in her existing uniform.

Milly Quite. I have been at a WA interview day with applicants from overseas, just providing support for families I know, I do hope WA weren't taking into account their parent's friends / the mother of their school friend! A lot of the overseas applicants for WA fly over on their own so parents could be Triad gang leaders for all WA know.

Anthony and Cleo.
I disagree, we barely met the WAS staff when my DD gained a place. They were interested in her not us!
