Appeals question - presenting my case at the hearing

What should I say when asked to present our case or state our reasons at the hearing? Our written submission contained every single relevant detail (whcih will, presumably, have been read by the panel beforehand?) So obviously I don't need to go into great detail as it's all in the paperwork - so do I just present the 'headlines', as it were? And would it go against me if I read out a brief statement here, rather than speaking off the cuff?

Also, if I forget to mention something important at the hearing, but it was in my written submission, would it still be taken into account by the panel?

Presenting the headlines is fine. It allows the panel to understand the important points in your case. Whatever you do don't read out your written submission. The panel will have read it already so that would be a complete waste of everyone's time. No, it won't go against you if you read your statement. Personally I tend to work from brief notes, usually in the form of a list of bullet points, but whatever suits you will be fine.

The panel will take into account all the evidence presented, both in your written submission and in the hearing.
