Out of interest really, what is considered to be gifted and talented?

My children's non-selective state comprehensive seem think that the top 40% of each year is G&T, or at least that's how many get invitations to G&T clubs.

My ds's primary school's response to my ds's musical talents was to allow him to sit out the music lessons and help the TA do some stapling.

I honestly think some primaries find ability in any non-SATS subjects a chuffing nuisance.

It's another ofsted box ticking requirement. My DDs school had a most bizarre mix of 'g&t' kids. I seriously think they panicked when ofsted announced their last visit and simply picked the names at random.

My DD plays every sport going at school, is captain of two teams, has been picked to represent the borough several times .... etc etc. She didn't get G&T PE but a friend of mine was astonished to hear that her son had! They both said he absolutely hated any sport, did his best to get out of every PE lesson.

I emailed the school about it .... which was quite tricky without sounding like 'that mother' Grin, but I was genuinely puzzled by it.
