What do you think that Mr. Tony Little has announced his intention to retire at the end of Summer Half 2015? Who do you think shall be the right canditate to his successor?

Wonder if Felicty Lusk will apply? Maybe a little too soon.

How old is Joseph Spence?

Might he be the next-but-one, rather than this time?

grovel · 25/02/2014 10:42

Spence is a good call. He's been a head for 12 years so I suspect it's now or never.

dog1dog2 · 25/02/2014 11:16

Dr Spence hasn't been at Dulwich long though has he? But if he did go to Eton (where he was a housemaster), I think he would be super popular. He is an impressive man. I think Wallersteiner from Stowe is an interesting suggestion. Look forward to the happiness lessons at Eton if Dr Seldon goes there! He's on sabbatical at the moment. Would love to see a woman get the job (just for the sisterhood!!)

He's not been at Dulwich for long (about 4 years) and that combined with the 400th anniversary of founding coming up it's not good timing to leave there.

That's why I was wondering how old he was. Because if Eton came up again in say 5-7 years time, then it could be a perfect appointment. But not now.

grovel · 25/02/2014 12:53

Tony Little is retiring at 61 after 12 years at Eton. My guess is that the Fellows will be looking for someone on their late 40's/early 50's.

TL had only been Head of Oakham for 5 years when he accepted Eton.

Etonstyle · 25/02/2014 13:18

As far as you know, is it mandatory that the Headmaster at Eton has to retire at the age of 60?

I don't think so.

Well, now it's all out in the public arena, who's to succeed Tony! Great appointment in Simon Henderson.
