GCSE PE - Horse Riding

DD is offering horse riding as one of her practical assessments for GCSE PE. We have been told we need to video her doing the required activities and let the PE staff have it on a USB or similar. We also have a list of the things she must demonstrate. Has anyone done this? Wondering whether I can use the video function on our ordinary camera. How professional does it need to be?! Any experience welcomed!

We had a student use clay pigeon shooting a few years ago. Her video was of home-video standard. They also filmed her coach giving her some feedback which helped the PE staff (who to be fair were not clay pigeon shooting specialists!) no end.

When I did a level pe in 2003 I had to record my practical (snowboarding) at the local slope. Just transferred it to DVD and it was like just a home movie quality. Definitely no special editing. It was also very stop start. Like your daughter I was given the criteria of what I had to demonstrate so it was very much me saying what I was about to do....do it....pause then me explaining the second skill....do that...pause. Not fluid but it made sure everything was covered

My daughter has just completed her pe practical sand used two horse riding elements, dressage and coaching. I used my ipad to video her. Pm if you want advice.

If you search on You Tube you'll see lots of examples of different things people have done for this. Just put in gcse pe and then whatever sport. DD found some for the sport she wants to do, and was highly critical of some!

local to me is Sparsholt College : they have a huge equestrian centre that includes GCSE ... might be worth giving them a call too
