My daughter completed one her modules, which counts towards her final assessment, for her French GCSE & was awarded an A last year (2013). Her teacher left at Christmas and was replaced this January. The new teacher rescored this test (I wasn't aware that this was possible, is it?) and down-graded her by 2 places to a C & of course... the teacher knew best and has asserted her authority over a 15 year old girl by saying that that she was better experienced in grading verbal exams as she is an 'examiner' and the previous teacher wasn't (implying that a qualified & certified teacher wasn't up to her job). I have an upset child whose enthusiasm and interest in French has hit rock bottom (previously she had talked about doing it at A level), who is resigned to failing the exam and has learnt the only expectation she can have of authority figures is that they permit themselves to walk all over her without the necessity of giving an explanation "that just the way it is". My feminist hackles are bristling.
Has anyone out there had any similar experiences and any advice to offer on how handle this with the school as I don't want to be fobbed off either?
