ATL grades

Just had DD Yr 7 ATL grades for the second term, do people take much notice of these as they seem so varied among the staff? My DD worked her butt off with a geography project, that she finished early and added more to it so as not to waste time, she is a bright girl and at the moment loves working! But her Geography teacher has given her "Aim higher" grade and hasnt even marked the projects yet? I just know she will feel flat as anything when she looks at them later, so should I dismiss all of it, or take it all extremely seriously?
Also, can anyone explain the KS3 levels of attainment? Is the projected/minimum grade for the end of Yr7? As in some subjects the minimum isnt yet met, and in others shes above the minimum already? It has all changed so much! Xmas Confused

You would do better talking to the HOY/Deputy Head - Curriculum at your DD's school. These things are not uniform across schools. For example with 3 DC, 2 in secondary I don't know what an ATL grade is (we have effort, achieved levels and predictions).

Often a prediction can be increased if a student achieves them too soon.

I thought the ATL was a nationwide curriculum thing? It includes achieved and predicted?

I'm a teacher and have never heard of them. I would talk to the school,if you want specifics.

I doubt that the project is all the grade is based on. Some girls fall into a trap of thinking that neat and lots of it must mean it's good, often failing to actually address the point.

Wasn't much of a point to actually miss though?! It was far too easy for Year 7 and they really aren't giving much homework at all, I will ask the school to clarify, although since the OP I've googled it and found it is a nationally recognised level system. Maybe not all schools choose to use it?

Trinity I said in OP that geography hasn't even been marked!

So perhaps the class work hasn't been up to standard?
Perhaps the point was missed if you thought it was too easy!?

At my school, ATL is attitude to learning. Definitely not a standard thing across the country.

Trinity no point to be missed and it hasn't been marked?!!! Glad you weren't my teacher! You sound delightful Grin
