Half-term break and exeat weekends

I have just known that my dd's school has 16 day offs for the first half-term break, and then at least 10 for the rest two half-terms. ALL full boarders have to leave the school in these breaks, as well as in the exeat weekends! Isn't it too many for full boarders?

Most will straddle 2 weekends at very least so Friday to a week Sunday is typical for a normal half term (10days) and often 2 full weeks at October as the Autumn term itself is longer. You may well find that foreign and sports trips are scheduled during these times and otherwise your dd would spend the time with you or their host family.

Holiday vary for full boarding schools but it you tot it all up most do about the same number of days in school. If you have long 1/2 terms; more than a week, its probably because you don't have any exeats or you've got a shorter holiday than others somewhere else. As a rough guide including exeats my DS's school (all full boarding) gets about 20 weeks holiday a year.

Thanks for telling. As I know, some of the schools do not require the full boarders to leave in the exeats if they want to stay. In this case, they can concentrate in their studying during these weekends. For the international students, this arrangement may be more c

How lovely. I hope she enjoys her holidays.

The working hours for staff in boarding schools are hideous - the breaks are for them as well. If there are pupils staying in school, somebody has to stay there with them. I'd be interested to know which schools do not require their boarders to leave at exeat - I've never come across that.
