A'levels crisis - DD wants to drop an AS but school says..

.. that it means she won't get into uni and will have to go to a FE college. DD badly wants to go to Uni but is finding 4 subjects at AS too much and wants to drop French.
could it be that if she can't cope with 4 AS subjects then she's not university material anyway? I'm very confused plus upset because DD is so stressed Sad and overwhelmed..

Circular - DD came home one day at the beginning of the school year saying they had done some kind of test a bit like verbal reasoning. could that have been ALPS? I have not however been told the result, and was assuming it might be given at the next parents evening. Perhaps I should chase it up.

ALPS is a prediction tool, uses average point score from GCSE grades, then a predicted grade range for that score. We had an info. evening a few weeks in, and were shown a chart of all the ranges and given a letter with our own DCs predictions and targets.

The school is supposed to be really good too.
