Hi
We may be moving to the area soon and this is where my current year 6 might go. It looks very big!
Has anyone one got any feedback?
I've looked at their website and they seem to finish by 3! Is there any sort of afterschool homework clubs or any provision for them?
We would both be working in London so not home till 6 t earliest

Thanks for any comments.

Lots of my friends have children who go to CCC (in all different years) and they seem very happy with it.

There are a very large number of pupils at the school hence the "shift" system ie the juniors start earlier and finish earlier and the seniors start later and finish later.

I must be honest with you and say personally I didn't like it when I looked around with a view to my son starting there, that was two years ago. I don't know why, I couldn't put my finger on it

AFAIK there are lots of different clubs but whether they are after school or lunch time clubs, I'm not too sure.

I think (like most secondaries) CCC has a library so your DC could go there after school?

Feel free to ask me any further questions as like I said earlier I know LOTS of kids who go there Smile

Have you looked at late application 11+ for a grammar school place? Chalfonts has always been popular and in that area there is nothing better. Or, consider moving to Wendover instead!

Thank you both. Definitely not an 11 plus boy. He has a statement for speech and language difficulties. I see CCC has a unit for physical difficulties and their Ofsted looks good especially for SEN children but it just seems so big. I just fear he would be lost.

I know some big schools split into smaller houses to give it a more familiar feel but I can't see anything like that there.

We could look at Amersham to move to but journey times look longer, although the Amersham school looks much smaller and maybe better?

We'd hoped to move to within walking distance of Gerard cross station and cut costs by only having one car, as Dh doesn't always work in London and wanted to be close to motorway.

We wouldn't know till May if we were moving to area anyway. I assume that they would still have spaces for the year 7 intake in September 2014 or are they very popular??

Lots of muddled thoughts. !

Hi again

As far as I remember (from when my son went through this nightmare last year) you would need to put in your school preference in Oct/Nov this year for September 2014 entry and you would be allocated a school next March.

You said you would not be moving until May next year so I think you would be too late-sorry.

I may well be wrong but that is how I remember it.

If you look on the Bucks county council website (under secondary school admissions) then there will be more up to date information on there.

Re the Amersham school my son and I looked around it and thought it was a really lovely school. We put it down as our second choice. Luckily my son got his first choice school anyway however if he hadn't we would have been more than happy with the Amersham school.

HTH.

Holmes Green School is the one for speech and language delay. You need to contact Bucks now as the 11+ results are out and people are making secondary choices for Sept 14 right NOW. You do not have a moment to lose! If your son has a statement you might get priority but you won't if you don't get a move on as other children will be offered the places and Holmer Green is sought after.

Just as LittleSiouxieSue says - Holmer Green for the speech & language unit - if he gets a place there due to his statement he'll get transport provided. But you'll need to get onto that asap as last year they were oversubscribed and had to pick who would benefit most form places in the ARP. Very, very unlikely that there will be places available at the last minute at CCC as they are very heavily over subscribed and have a waiting list. Amersham school also has a very good reputation but I don't know how likely last minute places are to come up. Having said all that, BucksCC have to find you a place somewhere appropriate, especially if DS has a statement.
