Does my Dc really need the HT's permission to drop music GCSE in year 11?

I can't find my original thread, but my DC is desperate to drop music and concentrate on only 10 GCSEs.

We have throught long and hard, and I am in total agreement that this would be the best thing to do.

I have talked to HOY and music teacher who, after being negative to begin with, now seem to see my POV. However, HT appears to disagree.

Can they really force her to continue with 11 subjects? Do I not have any say in this?

Bumping this as we may want DD to drop some subjects.

At my DC's school, it is one of the deputy HT's that have the final say, but I should imagine that who makes the decision varies from school to school.

My dd in y11 just dropped a GCSE. It was agreed by the learning support coordinator, but she had to get a final okay from the HT.
