Sick note?

My DD, in year 11, has had a run of nasty viruses and has mssed a lot of school so far this year. She's struggling with headaches and exhaustion and just isn't getting well. Blood tests for glandular fever are negative. I took her to see the doctor again yesterday and he wants her off school until after half term, working as and when she can at home and resting when she needs to. I think he's right.

I didn't think to ask him for a note yesterday and naturally the school wants one, so DH asked at the surgery today and was given a Stautory Sick Pay form, which the receptionist said the school will accept.

Will it? It doesn't even have a box for the doctor's details. I know that the GPs are charging for routine letters now, but is this use of the SSP form usual, does anyone know?

Obviously I'll ask the school tomorrow, but I'd be interested to know whether GPs usually write notes for school students.

Ask the school, my DDs school would be happy if it gives enough information.

(My DD on the other hand would be extremely stressed, she is in year 10 and is positively frightened of getting sick and then having to catch up with the work.)

Thanks mummytime. I checked with the surgery this morning and it turns out that DH and the receptionist were at cross purposes; the SSP form is used for absrnces of up to a week. The GP will do a proper note.

DD is very anxious, yes, but if we can get her health back on track, I'm sure there's time to salvage the GCSEs.
