Independent Secondary Schools - how well do they support Dyslexia?

Hello. I'd be really grateful for feedback from parents with dyslexic children in Sussex independent secondary schools. The schools I'd be interested to hear about are Shoreham, Lewes Grammar, B&H High, Roedean, Brighton College, Lancing, Hurst etc. Thanks.

As with all schools, variable and you'd need to check what they expect you to pay for extra support. Ds has friends with varying degrees of dyslexia who have gone on to Hurst and another school called Seaford which might be worth you checking out

My nephew went to Seaford & is now doing politics or history (can't remember) at Oxford Brooks. He is really really dyslexic & they chose it over Lancing where his brother went.

My DD went to Seaford she is very dyslexic. DD is now at university in Southampton. Lots of support for able dyslexic's.

Roedean & Lancing are very good for mild dyslexia only. Roedean offers 1:1 assistance & the staff are very knowledgable.
Lewes would not answer any questions I had on dyslexia support & ultimately I felt underwhelmed by this school.
Brighton is good for very pupils who also have dyslexia. The school felt way too pushy for our more relaxed family.
DS's friend went to Hurst & he found it a very relaxed environment & very caring. Don't know how they support their pupils?

Considered Bedes in Hailsham? Either 1:1 or group work depending on the pupil & how much support they need - and what you're willing to pay for.

I was also going to suggest Bedes and Seaford College maybe look at Eastbourne too plus Ardingly and Moon Hall too if you are in mid Sussex.
