Hi there,

If you could wave a magic wand and pick one of the above for an academic child, studious and kind, which would you go for and why? Nb: Distance not an issue.

Thanks so much

Yes, I know you live in a good spot Blu. When I was being cynical about choice I was referring to my own situation (choice of 2 all girls schools or a very long commute to a school with places available due to poor reputation) and that of many people in my little corner of London. Which must be close to where op lives.

Mintyy - Indeed, there are black holes - sorry you were in one!

But I also have encountered many people who believe that London generally is a nightmare for schools and has mostly terrible schools, and then come to believe the horror-hype....whereas overall (acknowledging that it depends on your individual address) I think a recent survey showed that London citizens have the highest ratio of children in 'Outstanding' schools.

So , esp as I live in Lambeth which gets a particularly bad press and yet has, I think, the very highest offer of a place at an Outstanding school , I get alll defensive Grin.

I hope it works out well for you, OP - have you tried the wider range of Catholic schools? And the other well regarded faith schools that take children from 'other Christian denominations'?

Yes, agreed, our schools in London are very good! They are now so good many people who would have previously moved out to the suburbs or found the money to go private are staying put and sending their children to them. So they are all horribly oversubscribed and you really do have to live on the doorstep of one of the oustanding ones to get a place Smile.

But, sorry op, I am hijacking your thread!

Not at all Mintyy, it all makes good reading:0), and thanks to you too Blu.
