My daughter returned to school today, Year 8 so no really a big deal. Her timetable has been posted online, some subjects she has more lessons, some less and she's going to be so happy there's no RE lesson. Lots of new teachers as well, so expecting lots of chat about it all tonight.

I'm waiting for my new year 7 DD to come home. I've done nothing but think about her all day. I've tried to keep myself busy but the day has dragged. I will get the kettle on for 3.15pm when she should be walking through the door.

I'm waiting for DD to return from her first day in yr 7 as well. So far, have washed everything in the house, cleaned, mopped etc. Time is going so slow today. She won't be home till about 4ish. Walking back with her brother. I will either have full on, non stop chatter or floods of tears. arghhhh my nerves won't stand up for this.

CaptainSweatPants · 04/09/2013 14:46

Best of luck to everyone !
That is so lovely she's walking with her big brother :)

Chat!?!

I should be so lucky!

mirry2 · 04/09/2013 15:02

My d never chatted to me during her teenage years. sullen wasn't the word!

Madmog · 04/09/2013 15:06

Last year when she started Year 7, I didn't get much out of her the first half an hour and then it poured out and continued for two weeks - so be warned - they are all different though. Not long now, mine should be back in 20/25 mins unless she stood on a corner chatting to her friends.

She has returned:

Asked her is she was okay and she said school's boring!

Then asked her if it went okay. She told me they had first two lessons looking at new timetables, filling in planners, making notes of other changes and she's pleased who she is sitting next to in tutor time. She really likes her new maths teacher (didn't think old one was any good), but some new teachers seem really strict. She still has to sit next to an ex friend who she just can't get on with in languages so was moaning about that, chatted about two other friends. Mentioned some of the new Year 7s she recognizes. Has French and IT homework (talked about IT in detail). Talked about changes in her timetable, new subjects, amounts of lessons etc. Doesn't want a locker this year as she says she can manage everything, until I pointed out she'll have to cope with her coat in the winter month.

Has now drawn breath and gone for a shower. Will wait with anticipation for the next instalment.

My 2 DD1 Y8 and DD2 Y7 have missed the bus dawdling, so getting public transport home... another 20min to wait......

Madmog · 04/09/2013 16:03

Thank goodness mine has to walk, think she'd always be missing the bus!

they are home and happy.. and won't shut up - I never understand the folks who's kids are monosyllabic -

mine are fighting to tell me all about their day in the minutest detail - have had to bribe them with food and pop to get a moment's peace!!! I know their new friend's names, the fact they caught up with old friends too, their new timetables, who they sat next to in which lesson, all about the school magazine that DD1 is going to be helping on, the fact that I gave dd1, dd2's lunch, the fact that they missed the bus but managed to get a gold service one instead (leather seats, air conditioning etc...)

I'm too full of "words" now... but at least they are happy!!

headlesslambrini · 04/09/2013 17:11

they are back - DS took her to the shop on the way home. DD has had a brilliant day and has gone to do her homework Shock she got told off though for having a pinafore dress on rather than a skirt Blush

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/09/2013 18:53

no idea how my dds day went :( we've only had a 30 minute crossover period of us both being around and she was busy melting down that shes lost her french dictionary and can't do her homework easily. Then she had to go off out and I'm off out before she gets back and wont be back til after bed time.

3monkeys · 04/09/2013 19:34

My Dd said it was alright! But sheis hyper and has mentioned a few new names, and she walked home with the boys!! Ds1 is in year 9 and has no intention of walking her home even though the girls and boys schools are net door to each other :)
