all this week and next week at daughter's school they are just mucking about, watching movies and doing 'activities' - for those that pay there is day out to an adventure park - for those who do not wish to/cannot there is is list of 'free' activities, one of them was mountain biking but you can only sign up for it if your parents can take you to the rural location in a 4x4 with a trailer and your own bike. I mean WTF?
So essentially lessons have finished for the year....
why bother going in?

Our schools keep going.

DD1 doesn't as is a leaver and doing fun things before she enters sixthform.

DD2 though...she's 13. She has normal lessons with even more homework, more tests than usual and is getting more and more stressed.

And DS has a month to go and is ready to kill for some free time, poor mite.

Our school went up a year at the start of this half term. That kept that momentum going. Now this week they all go on activities, school holidays or work experience. It's a fantastic half term and I'd not want them to finish any earlier.

We broke up two weeks ago and go back in late August. Everyone was tired and ready for a break. We are now enjoying the wonderful weather and doing exactly what we want. Bliss.

Ds1 (Year 9) is having a great time at school winding down. They are still getting homework though.

They have a choice of activities in the last week. He is going to Boulogne for the day. Grin But there were loads of other trips to choose from.

We have two weeks left and I will not be showing DVDs. The kids don't have complain though when they realise they are actually doing work. Still have some assessments to do. Most teachers do not give up and show DVDs for the last few weeks and in fact I am working really hard at making lessons work, because the children are hot, tired and therefore (understandably) hard to motivate.

don't half complain, not have. Grin Too tired to type properly clearly.
