Sports scholarships at London independent schools and boarding schools

I have a very sporty DS. He plays football in his school team, tennis tournaments through his local club, swims well and rugby competitively. He attends a state primary but we would like him to attend an independent school, either day or boarding. Does anyone have any experience of getting one, or can give advice on what schools offer them, or are there particular sports preferred by schools and does anyone have any info on the tennis scholarships at Reed School? Thank you

My DD got a sports scholarship at 10 for a boarding prep school - the scholarship goes through to age 18 when she leaves. She plays on County and for very well known club in her sport. She had to stay for two days at the school and was watched playing over those two days - she was also watched in other sports. On top of this she had academic tests. There were a lot of children being assessed - on her group there were about 10 and I know there were other groups on different dates. Out of her group 3 of them were given awards - she got the named award and the other 2 girls normal ones. Overall in her year 6 children - 3 boys and 3 girls have sports awards. Her school is very well known for sports. which is why we chose it.

I agree with what basildonbond says though - my eldest DD went to boarding school with no scholarship and was GB champion at age 15 in a sport she only started at the school. If he is talented it doesn't really matter if he has a sports scholarship bar the recognition and extra tuition.
