When I submit the appeal is it enough to cover the basic of our reasoning and then add

Further details will be sent before the appeal date?

The form seems to suggest this will be enough by saying
Please let us know if you intend to send a more detailed letter after you have returned this form

I am wondering if I should go into details or simply list bullet point style?

You can say anything you want as far as the reasons for the appeal but obviously you will need to be far more precise in your follow up. Be careful with the timing because most admission authorities now say the information needs to be with them by a set date. Further information can be submitted even at the appeal but it is up to the panel whether they will accept it. So best to air on the side of caution and get the full appeal in with plenty of time to spare.

In my experience, only SEN, being a looked after child, or the school not abiding by the rules will win an appeal. From what you have said, if your child has no SEN, then you may need to prepare for a no.

Well children win appeals to my DCs secondary every year, and never/rarely on those grounds. They get in pretty much automatically.

Pupils often get in on grounds such as artistic ability or the need for sports or other provision which the school can offer that others cannot.

Spudmasher - are you thinking of appeals for primary? It is certainly much harder to win an appeal where the infant class size regulations apply.

I know 9 appeals were won from the school last year out of 75 so I am not setting myself up to it being a be all and end all but we want to go for it hence we will give it our best shot.
