Pull out of GCSE subject?

The story.
Being new in the country, we made a stupid choice of GSCE - we took ICT. Neglected subject, it had a new teacher every year. In the end of year 10, after the first assessments results arrived, the school stopped teaching it whatsoever. Those, who wanted to proceed, were invited to "after school clubs", which merely provided access to computers, nothing else. In December DD decided to drop the subject and stopped doing assessments.

The question.
Is it possible to avoid getting "ICT - did not pass" among GCSE marks? Can the school de-register DD from the subject?

When is she due to take the exam? Usually you only 'register' when you what to be entered in the exam and/or submit a coursework unit.

So if the exam/coursework is not until the summer, just ask the school not to enter. The deadline for summer exams is usually March

From what I got from her teacher, it is all coursework-based (OCR national award and national certificate). They did the first module last summer, then there was a deadline in December (missed), the rest are 31 Jan, 1 Mar, 1 May. So, it should be not too late then.

That's not a GCSE, it is a separate qualification so will not show on GCSE certificates.

The good thing about OCR though, is that they don't just produce certificates for completed courses, they will give certificates for any modules passed.

So dd will get GCSE certificates, and as long as the school 'claims' from OCR, she will get separate certificates for those modules she passed.

Oh, that's even better! So she may not quit, learn through assignments as much as that happens, and then show no one those certificates.
