Hello. This is my first time on this discussion board and I am looking for candid advice. DD is currently attending an excellent school abroad and we would like to apply for Notting Hill and LEH. DD is top of class and has a musical talent. Would anyone know if these schools would consider our application? I have heard that coming from a 5 year posting abroad, DD might be placed at the very bottom of long waiting lists and, in our experience, schools do not give good information on the status of UK candidates returning from post. Would anyone have any relevant tips?

Basildonbond - a Dolphin!

I have heard that back then the Latymer boys were considered far cooler than their counter-parts at St Pauls.

Heston Blumenthal or Hugh Grant vs George Osbourne?

LEH runs a bus from Ealing - don't know where it goes from exactly but it is part of the school bus network LEH shares with Hampton School (boys) next door to them.

We are very aware of the long commute - I know of some LEH girls and Tiffin girls in our neighbourhood, Hammersmith would be better!
LEH, being far, still very appealling for its music department...am I right?

DD tells me there is a Ealing bus but it is mainly Hamptons on it, no one in her year came from Ealing, about 10 got the Chiswick bus. Music is good, especially singing, Miranda Ashe and her husband are choir specialists and enabled the Holles Singers to win the BBC Young Choir of the year. However all these schools have excellent music facilities and the girl I know of who has gone on to read Music at Cambridge and is involved in Opera, Choirs etc etc etc there went from Godolphin. This year at LEH there is only one girl in L6 reading music at A level because a lot of the girls who were going to do Music left with DD because they were so fed up with the dysfunctional year. It is rather tragic as the staff are wonderful and DD1's friends who did music at A level had such a wonderful experience and still meet up to play together.

A very old Old Dolphin Grin

We definitely thought we were much cooler and 'street' (snurk) than Paulines of either sex (not that we were, obviously ...)

Hugh Grant was a couple of years above me so didn't have much to do with him

Nigella Lawson was in the 6th form when I started and she was genuinely cool - all the little UIIIs were in awe - every time I see a photo of her I am amazed at how well preserved she is!

(sorry for going off-topic OP)

Very late update! After much research, we have applied at NHEGS, Saint James Girls and ISL. Thanks for all your advice!
