I am a somewhat annoying parent; if you were DD's teacher would you rather email me than have to talk to me at parent's evening?

She is in yr 10 & I am an interfering parent & I have been invited to a ball the same night

Because they want her to do 14 & I think it's ridiculous

So I have dumped IT, Citizenship & the third Science to take it down to a stupid level of 11

She need 5, 8 would be great - but 14???

At the academic selective indie school dd will go to she will do 9 or 10 gcse's (11 if she chooses to do drama as extra curricular). That's enough.

KatyMac · 06/11/2012 07:28

9 or 10 would be better but 14?

We just sat down & had a chat about which GCSEs really mattered and needed loads of work (Maths & Sciencex2), which she needed to work hard at (English x2, Spanish & Geog) and which were her choice (Music, Dance, Drama) and which we weren't worried about (RE (or citizenship/ethics), IT, 3rd science)

They have already done Science Btec & Dance Btec - but we don't have marks yet

Hopefully she will get Cs in Maths, 2 Science, 2 English, Spanish, Geography, Music, Drama, Dance and we will forget about the rest as that is plenty (for a non-academic career & she can do more if she changes path & needs too)

I'd bloody love any phone call email or appointment not on Parents evening

Go to the ball ! Really.

My DD's school was criticised by OFSTED a few years ago for making the pupils do too many GCSEs - they were typically doing 13. Now they do 10.

Primary school but I can't make ds3's parents evening (today/yesterday). I asked his teacher whether she coukdn't make the one day I am free in the next three weeks (most days fine after then) and she can't, so she is emailing at her suggestion.

I would just tell them you can't make it and offer to meet with them at a different time/communicate with them in a different way if they have concerns.

Whether she could not coukdn't (iPad)

I think I know the ball you mean, KatyMac. I hope you can find a way to go :).
