Best Secondary Schools in North Somerset

Hello,

We are wanting to move out of London to Somerset. We have a few places in mind but I am thinking forward to when my children start secondary school and would like to make sure we are in the catchment area of a good state secondary school.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Clevedon, Backwell and Gordano schools in the far north of Somerset all have good reputations, good results and are close to Bristol if you wanted to be near a larger city. Further south, Kings of Wessex in Cheddar also gets great results. Chew Valley school - I think it is actually in Bath and North East Somerset - is also a very popular school - quite a rural catchment area.
There are other schools that are pretty good - Churchill, Nailsea, Blue School Wells are all probably worth a look, depending on which areas you were keen to live in.
I would definitely avoid Weston Super Mare and Bridgwater areas.

It's a lovely area, Churchill school very good.

The thing about the chew valley school is that it's in a wealthy area so those hat can do send their children private. The buses come around here.

I think they bus children in from Bristol like bishopston etc, which isn't so nice.

Kings of Wessex in the Cheddar Valley is excellent, so are the feeder middle schools, Hugh Sexey (near Wedmore) and Fairlands (in Cheddar). If you have children who haven't yet reached Yr 9 middle schools are a great option as they can get most of KS3 done without the influence of older pupils! They still teach as they would in a secondary school for Yrs 7 & 8, so subject specialists.
