My next door neighbour's dc go there and really like it. They seem to be doing well.

I am planning on looking round. It seems to be, like most bexley grammars, a pretty normal school. Not full of the super super bright (a la newstead/st olaves). I like the fact it is coeducational. But at the same time it's results at A levels are not actually as good as our nearest (Bromley) comp. which is, unfortunately single sex. A bit of weighing up to do.

Last time I looked at their ebacc results it was a derisory 16%. Which suggests the school opts for easy subjects. Bexley grammar seems the better school their ebacc results are over 60%

Not true. I enquired about this myself-it's because they don't force students to take either Geography or History to tick off the ebacc criteria- they also offer R.S., Astronomy, Ancient Greek and Latin. Very happy they don't do noddy IT quals either-they offer both GCSE ICT and GCSE Computing. Quite pleased that they don't seem to have buckled under pressure to fit into the EBAC. This is just another list that the current government is using in the league tables and might not last anyway. You'll find private schools don't score too highly on it either as they prefer more choice. Looking forward to the open eve!

It just means you've got GCSEs in Maths, English, Science, a language and a humanities subject. My kids' school just points out to parents that if they want their kids to be able to say they've met the EBAC requirements, these are the subjects they have to take to GCSE. Obviously they do the first 4 anyway. But I think the government only counts Geography and History as Humanities and the school quite rightly isn't in the business of making kids take Geography or History GCSE at the expense of other options they might do.

It's quite pointless really and I would never use it as a basis for judging how good a school is.
