Any wobbles yet?

My DD2 started secondary school last Thursday and had a major wobble this morning which meant she was unable to catch the bus and I had to drive her in :( I don't find this a problem but DH was pushing her to get the bus but as she had been crying she was refusing.... As her DM I understand that 11 year old girls who are tired, hormonal, emotional etc can't be pushed to do things so by driving her in at least she went. If I had insisted on her catching the bus I think she may have locked herself in her bedroom.

Has anybody else had any major wobbles this early into the term or is it just me Smile. She came home tonight telling me she had had a good day and really enjoyed it Hmm so would be back on the bus tomorrow (I did tell her that this would not be a regular thing and she blinking well would be on the bus tomorrow)

Sounds like you did the right thing.
My DD had a major wobble on the fourth day of term (a few years ago) - crying and not wanting to go in as the whole thing was a bit overwhelming.
She did go and was soon absolutely loving school.

You definitely did the right thing - my DS2 hasn't wobbled quite yet but I can see it coming as he's getting more and more tired every day. I think we under-estimate how gruelling it is in the first few weeks - long days, journey to school, homework and the stress of trying to make friends and remember what classroom they're in - I think most of us would have a meltdown, let alone 11 year olds. Good luck to your DD and don't worry about giving her all the support she wants.
